iv recently bought a case 1529 skid steer with a 2 cylinder air cooled ruston engine.
has anybody heard of one of these.
anyway im having problems as it seems to be down on power. when you skid round it dies or go into a heap of gravel it dies.
does anyone know anything about these skidsteers/engines? personel experience or parts or manuals etc.
any help at all would be great

Re: case 1529 skid steer with ruston engine
Hi Matt, Have not had any thing to do with cases but had a 610 clarke bobcat. It was belt drive with friction drive clutches , not hydrostactic, If your case is the same ,there is not much you can do with it GUTLESS is the nature of the beast. The 610 had a HYD adjustable pulley ,Down low it was slow [and more power??? but the belt slips] up high ,faster speed, but no power. ian.

Matt I take it the machine was ok when you tried it prior to buying it ,that being the case I would take a look at fuel supply filters etc. you may have to drain and flush the tank check that out first it is a very common cause of power loss hope thats some help.dave

yes this is a belt driven one. was very suprised at it being a belt drive. i was thinking maybe fuel supply/filters/injectors. but then just an old worn engine! thats where the manuals or knowledge about the engine would come in handy! it wont have been like that off the production line im guessing.
does anyone know how old this thing is?
also what average weight is a 5 foot skid steer?
still if anyone knows anymore please feel free to add your comments.
thanks
