John Tutt kindly sent me this video years ago. A nice piece of Weatherill and industrial history.

Brilliant film, and a reminder of how dependant so many manufacturers were on Major's!

Indeed Sandy, the Major was massive in importance during the 1950s.

Watching the high lift one swaying about wouldn't do my nerves any good, and imagine the joy of the exhaust bolted to the cab roof.
Off screen I can't imagine too many truck drivers happily shuffling to and fro to save the loader steering.
If a LandRover doesn't leak oil, it's run out.

I found the high lift one a bit unnerving too. Didn't see the exhaust though. I doubt the lorry drivers cared much about the loaders unless they actually owned them, something I think was very rare. Pitty there are no 502E lorries to complete the set! (there might actually be one in the demolition bit, but can't see enough to be sure, I don't think many 500E's sold in Britain, the ET6 is the V8 one and the ET7 the P6V one, these were discontinued when the Major engine went into the 500E/502E lorries; all were referred to by Ford as Thames semi forward control, Fordson Thames before 56, and had similar cabs frames and many other assemblies, main differences were payload and engine)

My mistake. In the demolition film it's the drivers door rolled up on the roof.

Great film except for the full bown orchestra they have employed :D

I wonder if anyone has preserved a 2H.
They were still a common sight in coal yards till 1980s.

I suppose their Forth Bridge construction made them very attractive to scrap men.

How old promos and ads sounded I guess. One piece of music in the film is actually appropriately ''Export Drive'' by Frank Cordell. Now there is a useless piece of info! :D
