Photographed on the same site as the H45 in the excavators thread is Jones Brothers first CAT 973. This machine was a replacement for an old 955 model.

I think this machine replaced an older 955L. They used it on this job for the formation of roads and for bulk excavation. It was an impressive machine to watch in it's day.

One of our 973C's taken last week. This one has made its way to sunny (nay moist) Ayrshire, loading a crusher. 2005 model with 1600 hours on it.

Doesn't look like they have changed much externally over the last 20 years or so. Must be a good design, built to last;)
