How many of our readers remember this Killdozer TV movie from 1974?

Veteran actors played the parts of an allegedly experienced construction crew clearing terrain for an oil company 200 miles off coast of Africa, that come under attack by one of their own bulldozers.

Actually, the bulldozer (the mighty Cat D-9'er) has been contaminated by some kind of malevolent meteorite radiation, located in its blade evidently, which has turned the machine murderously psychotic.

It was all pretty naff stuff with some awful wooden acting performances but as a 13 yr old self confessed plant freak I just loved it, of course at that time the Caterpillar D9G was the biggest dozer in production and as such has always had a legendary status for me.

Around the time this film was out I was lucky to spend some time in the seat of one of these powerful monsters on Saturday mornings pushing over a tip during construction of the M27 motorway, I was just a young lad and it certainly wouldn't be allowed these days !

And here is a photo from my archives of the legend that was the inspiration for the film the Caterpillar D9G one of the all time greats from our earthmoving heritage.
