Ian, such kind of elevators are great for paralyzed operators.
We have a member at Maskinisten who built such an elevator by himself:

He has also built a crusher(?):

Hi Holger ,Yes good idea for disabled operators .I remember where i lived on the gold coast years ago ,There was a truck driver confined to a wheelchair ,His wife {she was a fit girl} used to lift him up into the cab each morning and get him back out at the end of the day It was a cabover 8 wheeler so it was a big effort on both of their parts to do it day in day out . We have a cab over truck sold here in australia that when the door is opened the mud gaurd opens out with a set of stairs to get up into it. Still to me one more thing that can go wrong with it.ian.

Yes And it will save the knees of every driver, when you work in such a way that you have? to get in and out all day long, your knees is the thing that hurts in the evening

think how many drivers they are with bad knees :(

I guess one advantage is that there's no step to get damaged.
For anyone with bad knees, I know somewhere where you can get transplants for both on the cheap.
They specialise in giving two ape knees for a penny

Now John,This is a serious subject :dizzy: and you never know ,there maybe apes reading this and get offended that their knees are only worth a penny . We don't want "friends of the apes" getting upset ,do we  Back on subject, good for disabaled operators fair enough but most of us ,the biggest exercise we get is jumping in and out of a machine. Come on do we really need it as standard on every machine ? Just one step closer to robot operators and all of us on the unemployment line. But wait now someone from volvo may get offended that i don't think their good idea ,is such a great idea . .But put the boot on the other foot and i could be offended by volvo thinking they need to build this as we operators are not able to get into machine without falling and hurting ourselfs. Where does or will it end .ian.
