jcb transmission

Post #1 by jcb4cx » Sat Aug 03, 2013 9:22 pm

so my 2011 3cx eco is just under two years old ,with about 2400hrs
i have lost 1st and 2nd and it was also stuck in 4wd
it was blowing the trans fuse and leaving me with 3rd only ,after removing the 4wd fuse it has not done this anymore so i have 3rd 4th and torquelock
you can hear a whirring noise in 1st and 2nd
machine is at dealers now hopefully to be looked at on monday
very disappointed to have this failure , makes me wonder if this was the real cause of the trans noise it went back for under warranty
as i think it has been overly noisy even after a new diff and propshaft were fitted
anyone had any similar experiences , as i have heard very little of transmission faults with them
hopefully jcb will come good on this for us

Are you still covered by warranty graham?that must nearly be a new machine you have with all the problems you've had with it

no mate out of warranty ,but hopefully jcb will come good on it ,as it has been back for trans /axle noise under warranty that was never fully cured
in my eyes ,the sister machine that was at the dealers was as noisy when i tried that for a comparison ,but who is to say it was not a faulty batch of something , bearings /shafts etc
the 2012 clancy machine is silent on the road compared to mine ;)

sale of goods act "fit for purpose" will come into play i guess if there is no satisfactory out come
whatever the out come is , i will be sure to let everyone know , perhaps after my other problems faith can be restored in jcb and their brand

Suppose that's probably the reason the previous owner kept it for so little time must of been a Friday afternoon machine the farm my dad works on had a newholland tractor that had constant problems with the transmission and engine and newholland gave them a brand new tractor in the end but i'am sure it was only 6 months old

must be making my boss think ,after the 590 transmission gave up the ghost

lucky for me the cause of that was a simple circlip coming off ,but this resulted in quite a bit of damage though internally
similar age and hours on that too ,but case came good on parts and also labour rate ;)
but i still dont want one back :|

I suppose that tells a story then hope you get it sorted out graham we've just got a new tier 4 3cx the management ordered it without even talking to the operator so it's turned up without powerslide which is must for our sort of work it's the replacement for a 52 plate that's getting moved to another depot for loading in a yard so our s reg p12 is getting sold I've enquired about buying it just waiting to hear back
