The back story is quite simple, we ran three of these loaders. I think they were Bray but I can't find any pictures. So... Any ideas?

Incredible!
Yes that's the one. How can you possibly get that from the description???
Thanks, much appreciated.

There must be the odd one some where but with 2wd, the demise of coal yards and the advent of telehandlers perhaps not many.

Re: Mystery loader - looking for a picture
Wouldn't mind getting my paws on one again just to see if they're as good as I remember. I used one for several months loading chalk spreaders. I'm not a great lover of loader work but I liked these. Nifty little machine, far better than the compromise tractor-with-loader units we had used. PITA roading though bearing in mind we were doing 10 - 20 miles between jobs on a daily basis. Ok on the level but on one occasion got pushed up a steep hill near Nettlebed by a 118 Roadless!
Embarrasing that I could remember details about it but not the make or model.
Thanks All.

Re: Mystery loader - looking for a picture
Found a (poor!) photo.
Stopped for lunch at a chippy somewhere between Maidenhead and White Waltham during harvest 1985. Boss wouldn't have thought to look for us there.
Difficult to see but the Loaders both had a pair of 4' spike tines on the front with 6' uprights for handling the then 'new' 8x4x4 Hesston square bales two at a time. They were welded straight to the bucket. The tractors are 2x 6600 at the front, 2x 7700 behind.

The 7700 were nice to drive in their day, with the right hand gear levers. They seemed in another league to the lower cab 6600, the extra power was good as well. Did the Brays trundle along at 12-15mph. A lot of labour back then, I assume it was a contracting gang?

The Brays were slow, but even then they bounced and skipped around, you couldn't drop your guard for a second. Being rear steer with not much a the front it was often difficult to gauge where it was heading.
Never had much dealings with the 77. My 66 had been 'doctored' before I inherited it and went like a scalded cat.
Yes, contracting. I think around this time we were baling unwanted straw and storing it in an airfield hangar.
