Hi Julian, many thanks for posting. You out-bid me on those! :-)
Have any got a really good clear view of the Whitlock logo in colour?
Been trying to find one for ages that I can get re-produced full size.

IBH, whitlock made an extension section for the back actor. Secured to the dipper arm on the bucket & bucket actuator linkage pin holes. an extra rod fitted to the end of the bucket ram then the bucket, linkage etc fitted onto the end of the extension. Was lucky to enough to get one of these and a tile bucket with the machine Im restoring.

Yes great pics Steelfab , The Biggs Wall livery looks smart I wonder what the colours were ?
So are CMN members behind the great Whitlock Literature Price Explosion ? ,I also bid on these .Perhaps we should get together like the Readymix suppliers and 'ring' the prices :D

A couple of observations on those excellent photos.

1. It looks like Whitlock also used those 'orrible swivel couplings round the kingpost.

2. That knock-out rear axle on that low loader. Grrrrrrr.
Six up front .............................means plenty of grunt.

Happened to be up in Natwich today just on the Cheshire border and was going down the main road when I spotten this Whitock Dinkum Major parked on the side of the road. It is in remarkably good condition for its age - late 1950's (?) and were not even any signs of wear on the buckets. Looked like all it needed was a coat of paint and be good enough for a show. I am going to contact the owners to find out the history and if its for sale

Now that does look clean! It must have spent some time undercover in its life time.

Good find , good pics , show the notorious snapping wire rope slew at base of kingpost .
Came across this similar one with cab remains on a hiab hire header page recently .

I spoke with the owner of the old Whitlock today to find out the history of the machine and he purchased it from the Widow of Moores Plant who were a large Contractor who worked on the M6 many years ago. He actually has two Whitlock Dinkum's and the second is slightly newer with twin shovel rams compared to this which only has the one.

Apparantly Mr Moore had a family tradegy many years ago and resulted in him one day deciding to close the business and all the equipment was left standing and the Whitlock's had'nt been used for 30 years so hence why they are in such remarkable condition for their age.

I am going up their next week to meet the owner and have a go on the machine so will take some further pics
