What Type Of JCB Is This?

My Dad has had a JCB for about 30 years now. We always thought it was a 3D but when we went to JCB to get a few parts they couldn't find it on their systems It has a standard bucket with one lever to control it. The front windscreen "leans back", if you get my meaning. The badges over the wheel arches say "3II" like in this ad http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/tractors/4176252 The "JCB Machine Serial No." is 3A53407 and the "Tractor Serial No." is 65B134043. Can you shed any light? Thanks. I'll try and put some photos up but it's either not working or taking an age to upload

Hi that sound like it is exactly that a Jcb 3 series 2 this is a slightly larger machine then the 2D but smaller than the 3C. Its basically the front end, mainframe and cab of the 2D with a 3C backhoe on it. Thats the best way i can describe it. Do you know what year is. There were 3 series 1/ 3series 2 & lastly 3 series 3. At a glance you can tell by the indicator lights whether they are round or oblong type units cut off time between the two was about 1972/3 there are several other ways to check via serial numbers, dash board etc. If you can post some pictures that would help.

sucess also, I was wondering about the front tyre on it. There are two different types on the front. One was a replacement which isn't really that great. The other (the one I posted) has a thread on it I've never seen before. Is this off a JCB or was it just a random tyre that was put on??

Yep you have a JCB 3 series 2. Fomt the indicator lights on the cab yours will be from 1969-72 i would think that it would have originally had a yellw cab, many got repaints to look like later machines with white cabs, it does have odd front tyres normally they would have had the three rib type similar to what most tractors of the day had. Well that's finally put that one to bed To be honest I only had ever heard about 3C's and 3D's before this but sure you learn something new everyday! Now it's just a matter of fixing it up a bit Should be a doddle
