Re: Spacer Above the Bearing Cage Missing
gecko.cx,
That is the third exploded view that I've seen, all different. Would you look up the serial number and see what that view looks like?
Serial number is 3CXT4126/322593/7.

Sure
I've had a 'first attempt' and it seems JCB are denying your machine exists

Following the link shows parts for machines built around 2021 (I'm guessing yours is older than that).

Re: Spacer Above the Bearing Cage Missing
It is not a 3DX, its a 3CX. Alta came up with 3DX until he asked if it was four wheel drive (which it is) and apparently he found it, but, the exploded view of the spool assembly was different. How can this be so difficult!!!!!
I'll see if I can get a name and or number from the valve block, stay tuned!
I like a mystery but this is getting to be too much

I'm not arguing with you, just showing what came up with that search.
I've tried any variations I can think of for your serial, but that the only thing that comes up.
Best guess is the NA models were numbered differently

This could very well be the case as it was an export machine, just makes it awkward when owners want to order spare parts.

Re: Spacer Above the Bearing Cage Missing
Even the engine number is a bit odd.
"LH" is straight forward - it's a 4.236 with compensated injector pump.
"N" in last position says 1986 production
but there should be a letter in the middle showing which plant produced it.

Re: Spacer Above the Bearing Cage Missing
Not strictly relevent as this relates to a Project 12 (about 10 years newer than yours), but this shows the weired / different serials used on north american (equivalent) models

Re: Spacer Above the Bearing Cage Missing
Making some progress with the numbers. I went to 777parts.com and found this (picture). Have to e-mail them to see what they come up with for an exploded view. Also, there is a tag on the valve body but I don't see a manufacturer. Did JCB make their own valving?

AFAIK, valves blocks were all bought in.
I have no idea of dates, but yours might use Hamworthy valves.
Sometime during the Project 8 reign, Hamworthy valves were replaced by Husco valves.
