94 3CX Levers and Buttons help

Post #1 by Ppearse » Mon Jun 02, 2025 5:31 pm

Hi All,

Newbie (so as most will say sorry for breaking any rules, or being dumb!)

Ive just started on the backhoe / 3cx journey with a 94 sitemaster, downloaded usermanuals but wanted some help on some of the buttons and levers as they seem to do nothing and cant find the answers in the manuals :insomnia:

1. Button on the side of the steering column
2. Front of lever: Not sure
3. Side of lever: Clutch Dump
4. No idea what this one is!
5. Think this is the boom lock?

Thanks in advance, and hopefully all easy ones :D

Hi Phill, welcome.
Your links arn't working for me.
Download the Operators Manual (9801 / 5350) from the downloads section.

The function of the shovel buttons are described on page 41
The boom lock is on Page 56 (looks like a handbrake lever next to the hand throttle when facing the hoe).

Uploading images direct to this site "is" a bit funky - it's a two-stage proccess (1-upload, 2-attach image to post)

Great - pics visible now.
Oh .. ummm ... very different layout to mine. Someone else will need to confirm.

1 - in that place, mine has a steering column adust.

You've got the Syncro Shuttle - I've got the power shift, so a bit different.
On mine, '2' is the dump, '3' is the front horn (tell the truck driver he's full, I guess).
4 - no idea. I don't have one of those.
5 - boom lock (I think). different location to mine.

Hello Ppearse

My layout is not the same as yours. own a 1997 3cx, all works the same way but a little different command setting.
The #2 and #3 switches are the dump and horn, as gecko mentioned.
#4 seems more like the boom lock system oil container.

good luck and keep us updated...

Hi All,

Thanks for the help, turns out I think they are all the right answers, but non of the buttons or levers are connected! So now its on to mini restoration!

Is there a recommended parts supplier that you would advise?
