Hi,
I was looking at this picture of Heanor moving a 657b:

Started me thinking about how many wheels would be on the unit if this were done today - 5-axle trailer with jeep, 4-axle tractor etc!!!

I believe that they did. Another company that built/modified trailers etc to suit the job was Annis and Co of Pump Lane, Hayes. Middlesex.

Link to some info on Heanors creations:

Any thoughts on Heanors decision to run trucks up to 100-tons? Was it down to the size / weight of load they were focussing on or more to do with changing road legislation?

when I came to Nigeria for public works in 1980 we had no lowbeds to move the 657B's about so we tramped them every where some times for weeks living of warm beer and local chicken, Bill,,
