Re: New toy
There's no obvious explanation, whoever was in there before knew how it happened. There's no loose bits floating around anywhere and if the pin hadn't snapped we'd be none the wiser. Although it looks like the bearing face is damaged, it is a sort of thin shield mounted behind the bearing. The reassembly wasn't an option as the workshop space was borrowed and had a large paying job waiting to come in.

Re: New toy
A nice afternoon and a chance for a quick road trip before the easter bunny took over for important deliveries.

The bunny dates from the 1950's and was the mascot for the North Hants Motorball club travelling hundreds of miles tied to the front of a Morris Commercial. To be presice, this one...

There are several locally known characters and family members starring in this clip and although they often talked about the games - and still owned some of the bikes well into the 1990s - the fact that British Pathe News had filmed a game for cinema release was never mentioned. I found it purely by chance about five years ago and up 'till then none of the surviving family members ever knew it existed. Very strange.
Sorry, gone way off topic!

Re: New toy
Ever wondered what's under that huge bonnet of the all powerful 550?
There's an engine in there somewhere!

Re: New toy
Next show was Hart Classics - a little quieter - number of tractors, one.

Re: New toy
Our most local village fete, a little disappointed as there were a 3000 and 4000 helping setting up. Both very tidy but were taken away instead of joining me in the show field.

Re: New toy
The odc strikes again.
On the dash of the 500 series there is a warning light bar. This has five lights in it - oil, charge, aux hydraulics, air cleaner, and main beam.
On this machine the aux hydaulic light is redundant as it's only in place for tractors fitted with multipower and/or secondary hydraulic pump.
Now, these engines are fitted with a heater plug (never ever had to use one!) and the key position for this is somewhere between acc and start. A quick dash dismantle and a couple of terminals and I now have a heater plug light without damaging the dash.
I know it's not a heater plug symbol but it works.
Another little job was that the indicator warning lights on this aren't in a great place and easily overlooked so while I was in there I fitted a motorcycle type buzzer which I can hear even with the Nordstrand radio/headphones on (highly recommended by the way!).
Also discovered that two bolts on the outside that are part of the dash structure were missing any form of sealant, so two 3/4 tap washers later and hopefully a tiny water ingress problem may be solved.
And so to bed.
