Hi There. Dose anybody know the actual bearing number for the inner pinion bearing.
I know the Thwaites part number but would just like to see in this bearing is avaliable from a Bearing Specialist as an OEM replacement

Yes it will be available from simplybearings et al.
Get it out and look at the part number, failing that measure it up and use the their excellent website to find what you want. You will have a choice of premium quality like Timken etc or a budget brand that will also suffice. They do not sell cheap Chinese crap, which is refreshing!
I've just done a gearbox for a series Land Rover and I got all the (imperial) bearings from them. It has to be said that the larger Imperial spec'd bearings are getting a bit expensive these days no doubt due to lack of demand.

Thanks for the info. I have a slight problem is that the the race on the bearing as completly disitergrated! Will the number be on the outer shell which is currently pressed in ?

I'm sure it will. Anyway, all you'll need do is get the vernier callipers on the shaft and housing and check the dims. Thickness and the presence of seals (or not) I think are the other variables but are easy to determine. The website is very intuitive and if you get stuck then they are very helpful on the phone.
I did my Thwaites gearbox with simplybearings parts, and a series Landrover and various tractor parts and lawnmower stuff. If I can do it then anyone can!
