Stothert & Pitt Dumper

Hi all,
Gladly just got hold of this dumper, after wanting one for a while. Been told its a Stothert and Pitt SXD 025 or O20, but not sure as cant find any ID on it. Any idea where they should be? The only VIN plate is on the engine.
Any info on it would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me where to get info or a manual for the Petter P600 2K engine in this please? Havnt found anything on the net yet. And any info for the dumper itself too if possible.

Managed to give it bit of a Birthday a while back.
Still havnt managed to lower the tickover on the P600vengine. The allen grub screw on the throttle lever was effed. So I’ve tapped a too long bolt in for now.
Any suggestions on how to lower the tickover appreciated;)

I assume the models you quote were related to carrying capacity. Yours has six stud wheels with quite substantial tyres which, to me at least, suggests 2.5 ton upwards. Do you have a single or double tipping ram? If you Google Stothert and Pitt site dumper with 020, 025, 030 you can find various photos videos. Of course the ID on those is not guaranteed. I would guess your machine is from the late 80s, the engine type would help ID as the earlier machines had the more old fashioned Petter PH2.

First post shows a plate on the fan cowl

My first thought is always: 'wash it down' so you can see what is really going on (and the cooling might work).
When it's clean, you can see the oil weeps etc. Things you can put off, but will need attention (and things that can't wait).
When it's clean, you are more likely to be able to change the oil filter (which looks over due) without contaminating it.

Thanks Pete for your input. I was told it was a 2/2.5 ton model from the person I bought from, but I think its on the heavier side too. It has one ram tipping the bucket. The engine was a recon supposedly from a few years ago, replacing another type as there are signs another/different engine was fitted before. The front brakes are fed by the hydraulic tank that feeds everything else. Looks like sometime in its past the pipe feeding the brakes from a ‘T’ above the axle had been snagged and pulled out if line, making ot weep oil. So that needs doing too. I’ll do more research , thanks Pete:)

I will wash it all down soon. I brought the dumper home after buying it to check it over- glad I did too.

If you think it might not be the original engine and replaced something older then the dumper may be a bit older than I first thought.
