Post #1 by Alptf » Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:06 pm

Hi,

We have a Thwaites Orion Dumper, which has been great, however I was using it yesterday and after 3 or 4 hours it is stuck in gear? any solutions please?

Many Thanks,
Alwyn

Probably easiest to take the top off the gear box complete with the lever. At a guess the end of the gear lever has left a selector behind, as it were. The old (probably Newage) gear boxes are fairly simple. You can buy a new plate and spring and even a lever if the ball is worn ( I have welded up one with partial success). If the selectors are knackered that might be a bit more involved. You also see what sort of state the inside is, these old boxes are prone to water ingress down the gear lever.
