Kato HD550SEV drive problems

Post #1 by tobac » Sat Mar 10, 2012 11:20 am

A friend has a problem with the hydraulics on his Kato. One track is not tracking correctly. He has noted that there seems to be a hydraulic pulsation when right pump is used. The following tests were conducted on both sides of the main hydraulic pump.
Left side. Start up pressure 300psi. Dipper full up 2800psi. Dipper in full 3300psi. Track motion forward 3300 psi, 5000psi under severe climb pressure. Back 3300psi.
Right side. Start up pressure 700psi. Main boom full up 4500psi. Crowd in 4700psi. Crowd out 2600psi. Track motion forward pulsating 1000 - 1500psi. Under severe climb pressure 2800psi
and stalled. Back 500psi.

My observations would suggest that both sides of the main pump are working at or near the design pressure under certain motions. Obviously a failure in one of the control sytems or motor. Has anyone any suggestions on where to start looking.
