This is the first Cat 214 in the UK.It was bought in 1984 from Levertons Wigan branch. It was a German Eder machine with a 6cyl Deuzt engine.from the slewing ring up it was a good machine and trouble free.Down from the slewing ring was a selection of ZF axels, transmission, halfshafts etc.The ZF gear was actually made out of butter and paper glue and caused no end of unuasual problems for us and Levertons. It had been purchased to replace an ageing Fiat S105 and S90.It's a good job we kept the Fiats as the Cat was often out of service. We sold it some years later to some poor chap with 3000hrs on the clock.
never again. :(
The first pic is of me in about 1987(I was driving a Hymac at seven).the dogs taught me to drive!
The second pic is taken in 1990 loading one of our Iveco tippers(we only had two)
