there where quite a few but simple changes the last cat 245bme i had was as rob points out quite a bit light than the 245dme which was my next machine had the cat d8 dozer undercarriage main boom was better built using diffrent welding technque mine had a short boom as there where 2 sizes & choice of 3 sticks which i had the short 1 4 greater break out force with it came mass excavation bucket which if memory serves was 8.3 cubic yards also had a red stripe just above cat walk an & the counter weight wrapped round on the operators side best thing they did was you got a fuel gauge in the cab instead of a dipstick an a radio casste player best machines every produced by cat the 200 d series i pleaded with my boss not 2 get rid but all machines where replaced @12 month old got a cat 375me maestro next it was a goo machine but i am afraid as many old timers i was an still am a cat 200 series threw & threw hope this helps John

This 245DFS is a stand by machine for a Cat365 FS, a square gal and runs as sweet as a nut.
