Jeremy what a great thread this is.
The methodical and skilfull way you are doing this is an inspiration.
Most people would not have countenanced rebuilding this old lump for one second.
Fascinating to me who struggles with an oil change on a motorbike

Thanks Craig must say I don't think many people would have bothered trying to save the 'old gal' full stop; the rebuild of the lump appeared to be the lesser of the evils so as to speak and as expected turned into many additional jobs along the way, next job will be to fit a new seal kit to the DPA fuel pump as it was leaking, that will prove a challenge as I've never done one before, then the radiator looks gummed up with crap so that will have to come out and be flushed and so it goes on. Keeps me busy though.

He has had his knee operation successfully done so one can hope but I don't usually get to know very quickly, but if I do hear of a gathering then I will post it on here unless Neil beats me to it.

Ahh yes, years ago we always referred to an engine as a lump This machine is a real challenge; nonetheless I'm happy to give it my best shot, there is a rebuild plan in the back of my mind.
