Thanks Tim
Harvey plant did a pipe job op our way back in 1971,they had a D8 on the side of the mountain cutting a track so that a 22RB fitted with a drag shovel could dig a deep trench for water pipes. There were some interesting machines on that job, including a BTD6 dozer and a Priestman Beaver. I just wondered if this firm is still going.
Cheers
Martyn

there was another firm close to them called Whites at Ipplepen who in the '60s had a fair fleet of eqpt. (by all accounts D8s as well)....they went t1ts up and reformed as Broadhemptston plant in the '80s

hello martyn.
i am sure back in the 70s harvey plant had a small depot in port talbot when i worked in craig yr hesg quarry we had a couple of yale loading shovels one was a 204 and the other was a 404, a pretty big loader in those days.the 204 was a bad design because if the drivers door was not shut or fully open the lift arms would literally tear the door off its hinges.

Hello Graham.
They had a D8 and ripper working in Mountain ash in 1971.The D8 made a cut in the mountainside so a RB 22 hoe could dig a trench for a water main. The RB was owned by Mabeley Parker of Taffs Well.
I will phone this weekend.Barry has built up a good collection. His Cat 30 is down his place now.
Cheers
Martyn
