Hi from Ireland

Post #1 by Foamcutter » Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:35 am

Hi all,
I've always been around trucks and construction machinery as my dad was a contractor. In the early days it was Drotts B100's (as I knew them), Cat D4's as well as mixers, rollers and other small plant. He than bought a Hymac 580 with a telescopic dipper arm for cleaning canals for British Waterways. Many a weekend was spent 'in the yard' helping, annoying and playing when we were in the UK.

It's been good viewing many of the discussions about machines that I have even forgotten about e.g a Poclain 75 with a grab that I remember driving for a few days in a scrap yard.
I can see many hours being lost on this site, it's nice to see much info on the old machines particularly Hymac's, I have a soft spot for them with their push and lift alternating pedals and the super long bent control rods...

Cheers
Fran
