Russian 'Stalinez' version of cat 60

Came across this interesting website with some excellent quality illustrations and period pictures of Russian Cat look alikes.
I do remember seeing several D7 equivalents when I worked in Russia 12 years ago.

I hadn't realised that UK sent Scammel pioneers and AEC Matadors to Russia in the early 1940s.

Great information John! Very interesting. I read an article perhaps you are aware of that the Russians later made CAT D7 copies and where the CAT machines were built using the UNF thread pitch for nuts and bolts, the Russian converted the thread pitches to the closest metric equivalent to the various UNF sizes.

During the cold war when the Russians reverse engineered U.S. and other counties electronics they went so far as to copy the logos of the chip/circuit board makers. Somewhere around here I have some comparison pics of U.S. and Russian boards. You can definitely tell whoi made what on them just by looking at the types of components. Not to knock the Russian engineers but like all russian work it is chunky and stolid.
