Track Marshall 55 advice needed

Hi all,
I have a Track Marshall 55, it's yellow but after a good steam cleaning it is orange underneath. The Perkins 4.270 starts well and runs a treat. it has a steel cab on it with most of the glass intact and the doors though it is going to have to come off to fit in my workshop so the cab may be up for grabs
My questions are; (I don't know a lot about Track Marshall's there's only limited info out there...)

The track Marshall has no pedals for steering .... just main engine clutch and brake pedal, so how does the steering mechanism work?

The foot brake pedal is as stiff as hell, but not seized can be pressed by foot, but has to be returned using both hands....any thoughts ??

the right hand steering lever is really floppy, loads of movement but the tractor still turns o.k when pulled fully ?

My tracks are in Good condition Pins, bushes, Sprockets etc. They just need the slack taking up, is it the front (nearest the idler) or the back nut I have to turn to take up the slack ? These nuts are huge so I don't want to mess with the wrong one

Heres a bit to go on with. The easy bit first, the track ajustment.

Slacken locknut A, and ajust with nut B. Marshall reccomended tightening till the track had 2" of lift with the bar ( D in the pic.)

The stiff brake pedal is probably just the pedal / linkage seized up.
There's a compensator mechanism under the seat with return springs. It brings both brakes on together when you use the pedal. You probably just need to free it all off. Under the floor plate where the brake rod goes through can get full up with muck too, that doesn't help.

The stearing is the controled differential type, the diff. slows down the track that you brake whilst the other speeds up.(the brakes run in oil).
The diagram shows 3.5" of free movement at the top of the stearing lever, this is ajusted with ajuster B and locknut A. These are towards the top at the back of the final drives.

The cam lever F is in the top of the final drive housing, and can seize through lack of use. I have drilled and tapped the housing and put a grease nipple in to solve the problem in the past,that saved stripping it all down.

I wasn't really looking for a Marshall, I prefer older type stuff Cat D2 I.H T6, Bristol 20 etc. But I was offered this Marshall and when I went to look at it I was hooked, I always try and do a bit of research before going to look at anything so's not to end up with a lemon. Also my dad has a soft spot for anything with a Perkins engine in it, so it ticked all the boxes.

Been doing a bit today ... cab off, seat off, freed all the pins and linkages, replaced the rotted springs to the hand brake and steering brakes all working well just need to adjust the tracks. But I have to go to work tomorrow so That will be a job for Saturday weather depending

Does anyone have a close up picture of the dash board alloy tags on a TM 55 ? or is there anyone making repro's ?
What started out as a service is turning into a paint job/ restoration

Hi all,
In between projects at the moment, I've had a day shot blasting all the small parts for my TM 55, ready for reassembly. I have question regarding the throttle linkage, my tractor had been fitted with a cable for the accelerator at some point, I have managed to get a original rod type. Does the throttle lever mounting bracket mount vertical or at an angle when it is bolted on? at the moment i have more holes in the area where it goes than swiss cheese ! Also where does the pivot piece which joins the 2 rods, mount on the tractor ? I know this may sound like a silly question but my crawler is spread out in many pieces ready for painting making it difficult to work out the layout of the throttle linkage

Hi everyone I have a track Marshall with a blade its a track Marshall 70
I don't no much about it and it needs a few things doing to it
The first thing that needs doin is the clutch as iv bin told if I take the fuel tank off and dash I can get to the clutch there ! Is this correct ???
Also I need to find the age of this mashine how could I find this ??

Others things that need doin is the left hand brake leaver does not work the best I have tried to adjust as book said but no difference mane lining gone any ideas ??
Last thing I need to find a part supply

Unfortunately there has not been much Track Marshall activity on this site recently, particularly since Fowler Man Fred died a while back. Fred is missed on this site with his huge knowledge of such a range of older machinery.
