Re: Terex Scraper New Zealand

Out of mild curiosity I just had a peak at the e.bay 24.......What can I say?.It's certainly all there and a first class example of an iconic machine of its day.To a collector,it's perfect and would require nothing so could be a fair price for such a beast. However, who is going to want it other than ...

Re: Terex Scraper New Zealand

Clive,24's are too rich for my pockets mate ;) .I did have a brief forray with TS14B's.I was very happy with them but they were in good order and went abroad after the job.I never intended to keep running motorscrapers. Not enough muck anymore for them. The 24 in the photo doesn't look like your aver...

Re: H Leverton & Co. Spalding Depot

A Leverton cab for you still at the top of my yard  Pulling a D8 final drive off is former Leverton (Wigan) head of service Kieth Halsall. He would often have 'Levie' Dale Leatherbarrow in tow. The big guy with his finger on the pulse of the D342 is former Leverton (Wigan) field service engi...

Re: Some sheduled maintenance

One of the D8's spat the center of the glow plug out of the combustion chamber yesterday morning on number 6 cylinder.Apparently this does happen sometimes for no particular reason allthough I have never heard or seen one blow.Tried to simply remove the old one and shove a new glow plug down.Ran out...

Re: Load wanted

Hi Clive, hope you're keeping well mate. How's that D7 doing at the moment with the new motor?.TC is building up a spare one for me at the moment and it's starting to take shape.I've pulled one of the D8's home to prep it for the new engine but it's slow going as the yard is busy at the moment. The eng...

Re: H Leverton & Co. Spalding Depot

Jez,these pics are great.Very nice to see the d8's by the way  . I love old pics like these and hope this thread can continue for a long time. I first used to travel to Leverton Wigan as a kid and loved wandering around their yard(no H+S then). It was allways full of D8's and 9's.Scrapers we...

Re: UK Coals minorca site pics

I thought you had to dismount those things backwards...3 point contact and all...... At Shotton coilliery in the 1970's I used to watch Manghan Shaws 631 scrapers and 769 trucks flying over the road as a kid.By the late 1980's I was at the controles of TS24's crossing roads on a site near Chester. P...
