Love those JCB shots, a lovely Major powered 3C and the lorries delivering 3CII's from the factory. I wish we could have Mr. MacGregor in that condition!

Re: Jcb 3c mark3

The JCB parts website is quite handy for checking things (only in Britain at the moment), other than that Vicary Plant will likely have something. Sounds a bit like a slightly more serious noise, but don't order anything till you know what has failed. While you're there check as much as you can in t...

Re: 3C3 running tractor accessories

Ironically the tractor I have the 3 point on has hydraulics, but its so old they use the gearbox oil with no filtration or anything and have no take off points, they're only to lift the 3 point arms. That's why I was mentioning this, as that's what I'm used to. I like the idea of making an attachme...

Re: 3C3 running tractor accessories

There is a small hitch though, tractor hydraulic oil is very different from the JCB stuff, so you'll need to clean out the splitter first and be sure its seals will be ok with the JCB oil, which I would suspect they should be.

Re: Jcb 3c id

Looks like a 3CII to me but I would need more pics to have a better idea of what period and the serial number for being certain. I don't think it's a 3CIII but it could be a very late 3CII.

Re: Classic pictures Updated 02/09/2023

I go with Rob (but only because I think it sounds reasonable, I don't actually know), I think most conversions by bigger companies (at least on Ford products, mainly Major's in many guises) would have done that, it then meant that the servicing was much easier, and it gave Ford easier selling by hav...

Superb Thames Trader brochure, I don't remember this variant, quite a long lorry too.

Re: Classic pictures Updated 13/08/2023

The Major was and is brilliant, when it's cold with us Mr. MacGregor will take a bit longer to start, but Billy starts in just two revolutions whatever temperature there is, even with a fairly poor battery (if he doesn't it's because the battery is too weak to get past compression)! I always feel it...

Re: Classic pictures Updated 12/08/2023

I always like to look at pics like that and see at least three totally different things that use Major power. I can't remember where there were hundreds of similar pics of Major conversions, including an odd Thames 400E with a generator or compressor (all powered by a single Major engine) and a Tham...

Re: Understanding your addiction

That was a late afternoon, after refitting the starter. It was also after school, it would snow not long after this, the last snow Billy ever saw (there has been subsequent snow but Billy hasn't seen it as he's been in the barn). If you haven't read about Billy I thoroughly reccommend you do https:/...
