Re: Mr. MacGregor old filters
I've seen bulk packs where the marking is only on the outer packaging.

Re: Mr. MacGregor old filters
It looks like a "double length" CAV296.
I know they exist, but don't know their number.
Taking a punt here - my guess is your filter is the CAV796
If you get stuck, it looks like the CAV296 element will fit if you replace the centre bolt.

Re: JCB 3CX project 7 slew lock
Can you post a pic? A '96 should be a P8 with a hydraulic "handbrake" style leaver in the cab and the slave cylinder mounted on the boom. This is probably the correct Operators Manual for a '96 (how does your serial start?) http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/app.php/dl_ext/?view=detail&...

We all get caught in strange ways - I had the right filter, but the wrong box!
At some stage in it's life, my 3CX P8 won a box from a P12.

Re: 3CX JCB 1997 Maint. questions
Not a problem - you don't need to.
You just need to find a local fab house with a CNC profile cutter (laser, plasma or even water jet), give them the drawing (email or USB stick) and they'll be able to cut the tool.

Thanks Norm, it certainly worked well.
using the drop-out gave high strength without needing an exotic steel.
This spanner is 96mm to suit the boom ram - happy to provide the CAD file if anyone wants one from your local laser cutter.

Re: How to repack w welded piston jcb3cx-1400
Trouble is you can't replace the glad seals if they need it.
You are right though if the gland seals are still ok, then replacing the piston seal and putting it back together is probably the best approach.
(also, you can continue searching for a replacement)

Re: How to repack w welded piston jcb3cx-1400
Pull the outer wear strip off - my guess is the last person in there forgot about the dowel pin and destroyed the end of the rod. I was recently quoted aud$550 for a boom rod or $400 to have one made (neither included the piston) I'd put the money toward a replacement piston/rod - no telling what si...

Re: 3CX JCB 1997 Maint. questions
Hi All, it took a while, mostly due to the rod being bent making it damn near impossible to undo the gland nut. After severely bending my stilsons in a failed attempt, I drew up a ring spanner and sent it to a laser cutter (ordered a spare to be sure). Once the rod had been straightened, the cylinde...
