Re: Starting problem - fuel
Careful with your startermotor - the long cranking sessions will overheat it causing internal shorts and eventually you'll need a new starter (what ever you do then, get the new-style reduction drive type). A low battery cranks slower and heats the starter faster. Not a fan of the ether spray (easy ...

Re: Problem with Search
Yeah, I get the 'what' and the 'why'. Trouble is it limits so many "on topic" searches (some brands and most models).
I guess the external search is the most practical work-around.

Problem with Search
I've run into this problem a few times and can't come up with a viable work around. The problem is the minimum number of characters required to make an 'acceptable' word. Using my most recent attempt as an example, I was looking for the most appropriate place to put a photo of a JCB 3D4. The respons...

Re: Still dramas with 1988 3CX - now engine oil pressures
I think there is no doubt the pressure relief valve was responsible for the drop in pressure (the 'why' is a different story). A heavier oil (particularly at cooler temps) will raise the pressure (worth checking what is in there). Given you've still got your original oil pump and the bearings are &q...

Re: Still dramas with 1988 3CX - now engine oil pressures
For interest, I'd pull the old oil pump apart and measure it with feeler gauges to see if there was a problem with it (I'd assume the pressure relief valve was the problem, but it'd be nice to know). Given your bearings were "perfect", I'd guess your current high pressure is only due to th...

Re: Stabilizer leg levers in cab
Not familiar with the model, but looking at the P7, the two leavers seem to share a common pivot pin, so a penetrant it a likely fix.
It's possible the anchor plate the levers attach to is loose, so both are moving together.
Once you get eyes-on, I think the problem will be clear.

Re: 3cx front bucket tipping seals
I've been working my way through mine as they need it (later model, but not much different). Suggestion - do the job, but leave the cylinder in place. Undo the nut/gland and only then remove the pin holding the rod to the tilt linkage. Once the rod has been extracted from the cylinder, point it forw...
