Re: B100 Update

Hi I have made some bolts to Fred's description and I have to agree that they work much easier than the clamps. I have cleaned up and reassembled one of the clutches and it seems pretty good, I'll get my son to do the other one. We have now got the engine parts required so should be able to start re...

Re: B100 Update

Hi, I have only got an extract from a TD6 manual for the steering clutches and it showed the use of the clamp type compressor so that is what I did. I take your point that using the bolts would have been much easier but not having ever tackled a steering clutch before I was reluctant to just screw a...

Re: B100 Update

Hi, I made the clutch compressor clamps from a drawing for a TD6 that I found on the internet. There is also a website for an American company (General Gear and Machine http://www.tpaktopc.net/td6strcltch.htm) that advertises parts for various makes of crawler tractors including International. They ...

Re: B100 Update

Hi A few photos as requested. Seem to be in reverse order. From the bottom up: Tractor as we first saw it. Lifting and propping boom to give better access. Boom removed. Removing pin from cross bar. Note tractor is supported on large logs and not just hanging from the telehandler as the picture sugg...

B100 Update

Hi Loader frames have been removed from tractor to give much better access to the steering clutches. The clutches have been removed and dismantled and found to be in quite good condition. The friction plates are metallic rather than fibre and so they separated from the steel plates easily. Getting t...

Re: B100 engine removal

Hi We have now removed the engine from the tractor after a bit of hassle releasing the loader frame from the cross bar. As well as the four 3/4" bolts each side there were also the two 1" bolts each side that secure the crossbar to the track frame. We cut the heads off the 3/4" bolts ...

Re: B100 engine removal

Hi Peter Thanks for the additional info. I had wondered after your first reply what to do about the loader frame bolts and I was going to remove the clutch release shaft anyway. Thanks tctractors for your suggestion although I had thought of that but because the engine is seized I can't rotate the f...

Re: B100 engine removal

Hi Peter
Thanks for that info. I guess when you jack the front of the tractor it pivots about the rear axle. We'll give it a go after Christmas and let you know how we get on.

Cheers Simon.

B100 engine removal

Hi Have recently acquired an IH B100 Drott Serial No. 603. The engine is seized due to rain water in the cylinders hence the need to remove the engine. We have come across a snag in that two of the bell housing bolts, one each side, are obscured by the rigid crossbar which is virtually touching the ...
