Thanks guys for the advice I will get out on site and investigate . I have ordered a regulator on spec from Holt JCB will let you know

JCB 801 boiling batteries
The battery is being "cooked" with a voltage reading of 18v measured at the battery terminals when running. I assume it is a fault with the voltage regulator not working correctly. Can anyone advise where it is located on the JCB 801 digger. Any suggestion where I couild buy a replacement ...

Worked it out!
Remove three bolts that appear to hold the fuel tank it then slides to the side on some pivots. This exposes the engine access plate. With a few bolts undone it removes the access panel. Simple matter to retention the belt

As it happens I had the seat out to replace with a new one. There appears 3 large bolts that form part of the lower bracket were the rear seat rubber mounts rest, and it also retains the fuel tank with a further bolt in the battery compartment.
Should these be removed? Or am I in the wrong area
