Re: Petter PH1 - spill timing and rack position...

Thanks Norm. Where am I measuring the 11/16 between? Is that the distance between the calibration mark and the spot face when the screw on the governor arm is just touching the end of the rack spindle? And is that with the governor fully forward (away from the flywheel) or fully back (towards the f...

Fil .
I think the 13/16" is the no gap setting between the governor arm and the end of the rack spindle, then you go on to set the spill timing at the 1/2" setting. I'm pretty sure it's the governor setting that's at fault.

If you go on The David Cornwallis site, PH engines, work shop manual, page 3.12 onwards all the info is there. I've done them myself PH2 but memories a bit hazy now. Hope this helps.

One of the exhaust ports on my PH2 was completely blocked, I used a small chisel to break it out. A fitter at the plant hire shop said it was down to drivers leaving them running over break times ( tea, dinner, etc).

Re: Winget 2S project

I found the valves were ok in mine but lapped them in anyway but the guides did have play in them. I left them as they were and the engine0 ( PH2) runs fine.

Re: Winget 2S project

Hi Phil.
I think the bump clearance was 28/32 thou, can't be sure now but the shims could be cut on an angle to save taking the barrel and head off the piston. I haven't got the manual near me at the moment so can't confirm the bump clearance, ( memory age etc)
