Re: Marion rope shovels in UK opencast
Hello Richard, I have not got my search a 100% right yet but I am getting there slowly. My father was a plant fitter for Sir Lindsey Parkinson on many of their o.c.c.s in South & West Wales. When I was a young lad I had a visit one night shift to the Marion 191 which worked at the Parkys Dunrave...

Re: CAT 5130 question
Hello Geraint, Wimpeys at Ffos-Las had a Cat 5130 face shovel first which was a field follow up machine and rumour had it they liked it so much they ordered a 5130 backactor. I earned alot of overtime on those excavators when I worked for Finning at Cardiff and Llantrisant. It was suited to the 777s...

Re: Aveling Barford Dumptrucks.
Hello again all, Shephard Hill of Chesterfield were big users of Aveling Barfords. In general, they are strong trucks,as long as you keep them well maintained. We had mostly centaur 50s,RD0255s,both Detroit Diesel powered and Cummins powered. For a short while we had an old Barford SN like in the pic...

Re: 789 & 777
Hello Mike,
Is this a different site to the one that is known as Maidens Hall.
Do you know what loads the 789s?
I can't wait to see your next photos.
Regards from Canada,
Mark![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: KOMATSU HD 785 DUMPTRUCKS
Hello Guys, Celtic Energy had 19 of these trucks working at their Selar o.c.c.s in South Wales in the late 90s to mid 2000. All the operators on that job loved them as they were so quiet to drive. When the Walters Group bought Celtic Energy, the trucks were replaced with Cat 777s. They were loaded by...

Question for you guys,
Would that Komatsu 355 dozer have a Cummins 1710 engine in it.
If it does, are they a reliable power pack,as I have heard mixed opinions.

Re: Cat 637's in Scotland
Hello Nicky, Can you answer this question for me? In the late 90s whilst I was working for Finning,I remember Levak haveing some Cat 777s on hire to Wimpey at East Merthyr, South Wales, rather rough looking trucks. Somebody told me that these were ex Shand mining 777s,lots of oil leaks I remember and...
