Re: Scrape dozers

Hi Taylor, scrapedozers where originally designed to cope with the wet conditions often found in Europe. And clay mixed with sand sounds like a real good "scrapeable" material, but you seem to have problems with traction. Got you right? According to Frutiger, on a distance of 300 yards hou...

Re: Scrape dozers

That construction site where I took these photos had soft, wet top soil. Dont know how to compare to your situation, but the machine seemed to handle it very good.

Re: Scrape dozers

Hi Taylor, I'm not an operator - but I'll share what I know abou them. I hope that will give you an idea how they work. They are an scraper bowl on tracks. And for an tracked earthmover, they go fast! The pictures below show a Frutiger SR 3000, the biggest scraperdozer built. I wached it removing to...

Re: dozers

Dug out the homepage of Helmut, he's the operator I told you about - and he is also an tallented craftman as he knows to recreate these crawlers in 1:10! First a beatiful rc-model of the T-100 - wich was THE bread-and-butter bulldozer of eastern countries. As far I understand it, it's based upon the...

Re: Komatsu D250 cable dozer

Yeah, that was my first impression, too. But a closer look reveals that the turbocharger and exhaust is front of the operator on the left side and the twin air intakes are on the right side...on a D9 its the other way around. Dashboard looks to modern for a D9D, more like on a D9G....and these funny...

Komatsu D250 cable dozer

Found this interisting picture of a cable dozer declared as a Komatsu D250: http://baggergalerie.blogspot.de/2011/08/komatsu-bulldozer.html Looks like a Komatsu-version of the Cat D9D. Anyone ever heard of them? :wtf: Maybe Komatsu first steps into the big dozer biz. Could be a direct drive model li...

Re: dozers

Hi, Folks. These dozers are diesel-electric drive as FCGH said. Built in several places in Russia from about 1961, they have a bit of a reputation for keeping going in the Russian winters when pretty much nothing else will. Their latest 'baby' is the T800 with specs almost exactly like the Cat D11T...

Re: dozers

Hi Dave, found a video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=cU56OxYl4Zg&NR=1 Looks like testing the drawbar pull. The towed "scoolbus" crawler looks like a converted old DET 250 into a mobil testing laboratory. As far I Know, these diesel-electric crawlers h...

Re: dozers

Hello Dave, . looks like a Chetrak DET 250, a Diesel Electric Tractor with 250 horses and round about 33 tons. Maybe the machine you saw was the next model, a DET 320 with increased horsepower and modernized cab. I believe they are built in the Ukraine. Torsion bar sudpension undercarriage and when ...
