Hi
Loader frames have been removed from tractor to give much better access to the steering clutches. The clutches have been removed and dismantled and found to be in quite good condition. The friction plates are metallic rather than fibre and so they separated from the steel plates easily. Getting the clutch plate assembly out of the outer drum was quite hard and I managed to crack the pressure plate on one of them but I have successfully repaired it by brazing.
Once the clutches were removed from the tractor the probable cause of the tractor being laid up became evident. The bottom of the RHS brake band where it attaches to the adjuster had become detached and subsequently bent and twisted rendering the brake useless. This would have made the machine difficult to steer. This is the only real defect that we have found i.e engine, gearbox, clutch, steering clutches etc all seem to have been in reasonable condition prior to it being left out in the rain. Even the tracks and undercarriage, although well worn, still go round and the final drives and rollers don't show any obvious signs of bad oil leaks etc.
We have decided that we will have a go at restoring the tractor so we'll clean up the bits get some gaskets etc stick it back together and see if it will run.
Regards Simon.

Re: B100 Update
Hi
A few photos as requested. Seem to be in reverse order.
From the bottom up:
Tractor as we first saw it.
Lifting and propping boom to give better access.
Boom removed.
Removing pin from cross bar. Note tractor is supported on large logs and not just hanging from the telehandler as the picture suggests.
Engine removed.
Steering clutches exposed.
Loader frame being removed.
Clutch almost ready for removal.
Finally lifted out.
Regards Simon.

Re: B100 Update
Simon, that's some odd gubbins you used to compress the steer clutch packs with, the correct tooling is 3 x 3/8 bolts about 2"3/4 long, you remove the fork and the long through bolt that runs over the top of the clutch to lift this unit clear.

Re: B100 Update
Hi,
I made the clutch compressor clamps from a drawing for a TD6 that I found on the internet. There is also a website for an American company (General Gear and Machine http://www.tpaktopc.net/td6strcltch.htm) that advertises parts for various makes of crawler tractors including International. They show some pictures of a TD6 clutch with a similar compressor tool installed.
Regards
Simon
