procedure for adjusting brakes and steering clutches

Post #1 by lonesomegeorge » Mon Sep 08, 2014 5:36 pm

I've got a 1953 Caterpillar D4. I;ve finally got it running good, but the stoping and turning are irratic. My property is very steep, so I don't have much room to check them out. I've seen videos of run away dozers, and it doesn't look like much fun. anyone have the procedures for adjusting them?

thanks

I don't know about old D4's but there are usually small plates under the fuel tank that you remove, then you can access the brake adjuster stud that clicks over.Have a look and see but just try a few clicks at first.
