It was only by chance that I managed to grab a few pictures today of a 50 ton capacity fork lift truck yes this is the biggest machinery moving fork truck that I have ever seen. The press company that occupy the unit next door to where I work had a 40 ton press delivered today on one of Allelys heavy haulage outfits, the tractor unit a DAF XF had to nose through our roller shutter doors so that the press could be off loaded as near to the door it had to go through as possible.
This job was by no means an easy one for the machinery movers as the old tarmac outside both units is pot holed and very uneven so as you will see by the pictures the first attempt to unload the press was unsuccessful as the weight caused the 1" thick plate underneath the fork truck to buckle
Eventually they brought in some 2" steel plate and put that on top of the other plate, it still gave a little under the immense weight of the press and fork truck.

Re: Versa-Lift
No Holger the last two pictures the fork truck was light on the back end and it started to slide the wrong way when they tried to get it through the door, so the smaller truck was used to push the back end of the larger truck back inline.
Cheers Steve, I always have a camera on me these days and I need to use it at work on occasions too for some of the work we do.

Re: Versa-Lift
That Versa-Lift is a tasty bit of kit. When I was involved with machinery moving in the 60s our biggest was a 22,000lb Lancer Boss but much of our work was done with 12,000lb Hysters. Used Iron Fairies if there was enough headroom but otherwise it was hard graft with skates, monkey winches or Tirfors and lots of "bird cadging" with with timbers and Hydrolite jacks! A 100ton crane was big in those days!

That machine is a pure beast. I remember the days when forklifts were used just to pick up pallets full of heavy items. Now they are picking up anything and everything - great piece of engineering. Hmm maybe the forklift could do with a counter balance that is attached to the end to stop sliding such as this. Great set of pictures

Great pictures you have there. You can try to look at The Bahrns Store they also have great forklifts.

Re: Versa-Lift
You captured a really huge truck Jeremy. And I agree, machinery relocation is never an easy task. That is why it is better to entrust the job to experts.
