there is a cat 3408 engine for sale on ebay does any one know if i can put it in my kenworth.i know it will fit ,just that it is out of
a dump truck !!! just wondering if it is set up different than the road going truck engine any ideas allso missing a exhaust manifold bet it would cost a fortune to replace from caterpillar.i have a 3406a to go in it but would like a v8 if it would work .

i was in working in america in 09, i worked with a guy and his uncle had a 3408 in his pete for heavy haulage,did u try searching forums for trucks in america

yeh stui i know they put the 3408 into kenworths and pete`s just need to know if the dump truck engine is the same.i have asked on the
kenworth k100 club forum just waiting for replys thanks

Hi ya i've got an exhaust manifold if you do deside to fit the engine and various other cat parts for that engine

hi Ross thats what i am trying to find out from the seller but he hasn`t got back with the numbers !!!! it is mechanical
and old !!! owner does not know the hours only that it was runing when we took it out should have left it in
untill he got a buyer for it

Manifold should be a Cat Classic part.I bought one for an D342 in November....front bit £900 ish,back bit £1200 ish from Cat but only paid £90 for front and £120 for back under Cats Classic scheme.

yeah that`s what i was thinking Nicky ,but he won`t come back with engine or arrangment numbers as you know cat`s are expensive to fix
or rebuild. but would love a v8 cat to go with my v8 detroit and scania !!!! must look up the classic scheme thank`s Nicky

on uncle sams american circus peter (the owner) has a peterbilt with a cat V8 with a RR13speed it slow off the mark but go's like the clapers when you wind it up i driven it she is gettin old now tho the rust is startin to set in pete spent a fortune abt 8yrs ago have the engine rebuilt at cats at spalding ! any way if you get the cat lump for your KW make sure you can get the right transmission ring to fit your G/box good luck with it
