I have now received copies of the rollers Grantham works build sheet.My roller was constructed on the 29 th April 1953. It was ordered by HAVERFORD WEST UDC chief surveyor,Mr A Moody in 1952 Still trying to get photos of it in council ownership.The "extras suppilied with it were,three road lamps,a canopy and side curtains.

Its great to get documation of the machine you are restoring.These documents are in effect a "birth" certificate of the machine. The colour of this machine when built was mid. brunswick green. My roller will be resprayed that colour. All the numbers shown on the sheet were roll weight and part numbers.The 15 horsepower engine is the industrial version of the one fitted to Ford Popular cars.It has a Scintillar vertex magneto,the same type is fitted to some classic cars. I will re apply for its registration so it will be ok to take on the public highway to local shows.The build date of 29th of April 1953 is weird because my sons birthday is also 29th April.

how many types of machines did this company make i know of a man in chatsworth ,georgia usa.that has 2 end dumps made by this company

They made dumpers and rollers in general plus I think some loaders including the calf dozer.
Rollers started of at 1 1/2 up to around 10 ton.Their best roller was the Master Pavior produced in the mid 1960's on.but most councils in the UK went for the GC GD range.very reliable machines.

The roller is nearly complete,just the canopy to fit.The supports have been painted and fitted.

I was very interested to note that someone has copies of old 'Aveling Barford' documents.

I am in the process of restoring an Aveling Barford 'Bison' - 4 wheel drive rigid chassis 2 ton site dump truck. It is currently painted Yellow, but underneath it is green.

All I have found out at present is that there were three smaller models, the 'Bantam, the 'Beaver' & the 'Bison'.

What I am anxious to discover was whether it is a Mk 1 or a Mk 2 Bison. Does anyone know how to tell them apart?
