The 385 was a direct replacement for the 375, as the 5080 then 5090 was same base machine in front shovel, when Cat ceased production of 5000 series shovels all that was and is left now is the 385 - tada!!!

That bucket on the 5090 looks like it would cause some major torsion stress on that dipper.

Something we never had any trouble with was cracked sticks on 5080 or 90's I think Cat prduced a really good solid shovel. Even the bucket's we got very little trouble with, I think the power from the engine to the hydraulics to the implements was spot on, unlike dare I say controversially O&K where we have all seen destroy the buckets with the sheer power in them.
