Hi
Not sure this is the correct section to post this in but I have recently refurbished a trailer I made many years ago, it has a caravan chassis and a tipper body I got off Ebay.
It has an electric motor with a solenoid to work the ram and hold it in place but the ram is letting by which it never used to.
Question is, is it the ram seal of the solenoid at fault ? and what do I check first.
Before you had to keep the button pressed to let the hydraulic fluid bypass, now it does it on its own.
thanks
Fingers

Re: Tipper trailer ram issue
If the ram seal had gone then you would have a lake of oil on the floor so as it's leaking back to the reservoir I would look to the solenoid valve.
If a LandRover doesn't leak oil, it's run out.

Re: Tipper trailer ram issue
Quick update.
I removed the solenoid and found the small spring loaded plunger inside was sticking, a few taps with screwdriver and it freed itself.
Thanks for the sensible advice hair bear.
