Thanks Fred, that is fair point too. The transmission oil was not changed in quite some time I would guess.

cheers Tom, I don't think the engine is losing coolant, but I'll check closely for that.
Those transmission hoses seem awkward to get at to remove them off the cooler. Any tips?

I have bypassed the transmission cooler for the moment to keep an eye on it to see if it is leaking water.
I am not doing any serious work at the moment. Is it ok to operate the machine for short periods without the transmission cooler connected?
does the transmission oil get very hot without it?
I'm in Ireland, not renowned for its high temperatures this time of year

Is the trans cooler on your machine integral with the rad? I thought more likely to be separate and located in front of the rad?
Just had a look at your earlier post and it sound like an integral cooler.

I have exactly the same issue with the milky pink oil which may not have been changed for a while too, (apologies for the dupe post I put on yesterday). As said before, the cooler on mine is located infront of the rad - the first cooler behind the grill of the machine, and a different design to yours it seems.

i have had no issues since i drained and put new transmission fluid into my JCB. When i check the oil, it is always clean now on the dip stick. My conclusion is that the original oil was old and contaminated by moisture. worth keeping an eye on the oil though as prob needs to be replaced when it starts to show any signs of moisture contamination.
