Lima...but what model ?

Hello all, apologies for my ignorance, but can anybody identify for me which model the Lima machine in this picture is ? It was used by my grandfather during WW2 with the Royal Engineers.

Hello colin,
the lima shown has all the resemblance of the 1201 model,a very popular heavy lift crane in its day.
if not a 1201 then possibly a lima 802. .

Hi Collin,
Welcome to The Forum.
What a great old photograph.
It's difficult to judge the size of the Lima.
The derricking frame and reeving is wrong for it to be a Lima 1201.
I think it's a Lima 801 or the later 802, from the age of the photo. it's probably an 801.
At that time some Lima excavators/cranes were made under licence in this country by The North British Locomotive Co. and fitted with Crossley engines.
There's a lot going on in that photo, the dumper the crane is lifting is an old Muir Hill 3 yarder and thats probably a Rogers trailer behind the AEC Matador that their loading it onto.
Theres an old Cat. D8R blade tucked in behind the Lima and I think the dozer in the foreground must be an International TD14 with a Bucyrus Erie Blade.

Hello again,
I forgot to say, if the Lima is an 801 or 802 she would have weighed in at between 65 and 70 tons.
I think they were made from 1939 to 1958/9.
