Hi John,
Interesting Pics. Y D A refers to the Ruston YDA range of air cooled diesels.
These can be clearly seen in most of the pics. the only aplication which surprises me is the Allis Chalmers crawler, I was aware of the other aplications, though I never saw one in an Aveling grader.
Some of these engines in 22RBs which I overhauled in the 1970s with twelve years plus service had no measurable crank shaft wear.

hello fred.
i operated a 30-rb years ago on a face shovel that was fitted with a 6 yda,but it carried letter x which stands for turbocharger,it was all revs no action,would,nt pull a priest off a choir boy.

That explains why they were in a pile of Weatherill stuff that I have they must of looked at the engine for one of the early 4 wheel drive macines
