Hi Fred,
You're probably closer than I am! I just thought the cab looked a bit like the corgi model of a Cub shovel that's sitting on a shelf here, that is about the limit of my research.

Lovely pictures of the AECs, they did look smart in that era.

Hello again,
Thanks for the replies, I think the AECs were smart trucks in that era too.
The caption with the Wimpey mixer trucks pic.did state that they were new and ready for delivery.
They are the trucks I worked on during the 1960s. They were like a car to drive compared to what had gone before.
Power stearing was in and the AEC was the first I worked on to have full air brakes.
I spent over a year about 1968/9, (when the regulations changed), converting "Scammel Highwayman" tractors and their trailers from "Multi Pull" ratchet hand brakes to air and from single line piston opperated air to tripple line diaphragm systems.
Five or six years before I was converting Ex. BRS Leyland Octopus trucks from Servo assisted to "Hydrovac" to try to improve their braking.
Here are a couple more pics from that era. Whatever happened to our manufacturing industry  :?: :?:

Well we all know the answer really. Poor management/investment coupled with all too powerful unions resulting in white elephants like British Leyland.
