Hi,
When I worked for The Cardiff Plant Group their sister company DMD had a floating crane which they used for pilling on harbour works.
I was sent to Cardiff Docks to do some repairs on her. She was called the "Stanney",
She was powered by a Gardner 8 cyl. marine engine and in the engine room was also a large Perkins powered gennerator.
Bolted to the deck was a 22RB excavator / crane.
Opperating a crane on a moving deck must take a bit of getting used to!
Sadly I did'nt have a camera in those days, but ever since my encounter with the "Stanney" I have been interested in these workboats.
Here are some photos. of simmular boats.
Fred.

Bray Dozer on what I believe is a Cletrac Model DD, circa 1936-40?

Hi,
Very interesting photo. Thanks for posting.
Bray made equipment for most makes during the 1940's/50's and 60's.
Here are photos of a Bray blade on an Allis 7G and on a Cat D7.

Hello,
Here are some working pics from the 1950s.
It's all happening on the Wimpey site in the first pic. Square nosed Bedford and Fordson V8 tippers, Cat D7 :?: :?: and International dozers, and I think the dragline at the back is a 33RB :?: :?:

Another square nose Bedford, but what's the tracked loader in this 1954 photo. :?: :?: The cab looks British, but the loader geometry looks like Allis and I don't recognise the hyd. accumulator on the side.

Here are some IH TD14s with BE boxes, and is that a TD14 blade or is it aTD9 :?: :?:

Still with Internatoinal, a B100 Drott and a Rapier 425 :?: :?: with demmo. ball.

Great photos Fred, particularly like the Wimpey one, so full of action.

The Tracked loader looks new, could it have been a promotional shot? Were we getting rare imports to UK at that time? The loader arms look very modern for 1954 compared to some on offer at that time.

Hi Pete,
A bit more digging and I'm pretty sure the loader is an Allis HD5. The Allis loaders were about the most advanced design at that time,(loader arm design was ahead of the rest).
