Gigarailer by Rexquote

Post #1 by Jeremy Rowland » Fri Dec 28, 2007 12:35 am

Hi to all,

Here's a different type of machine I came across a couple of months ago and I can't say I really know anything about them

Has anybody else come across one of these before or knows anything about them :?:

Hi Jeremy,

Hope you had a good Xmas mate and enjoyed your card??

Well I used to drive the roadrailers for Hydrex, as I recall the machine in your photo is based on an Atlas machine, the Gigarailer is a new heavier version of the Rexquote Superailer.

That one has a double cab for carrying the PICOM (Person in charge of machine) that you have to have with you when working on the rails :dizzy: I used to find that he is usually the bloke who is always in the bloody way when you are trying to work the machine!!

Nick

That's definitely a Terex-Atlas excavator but looking at the boom/dipper arrangement is it is configured solely for lifting tasks such as handling track sections.

Yeah. The local Hydrex Depot used similar if not the same Boxy Rail Ducks.
Either Atlas or Hymec <~~ I think :dizzy:

No doubt that it IS an Atlas machine. Look at the AWE4 logo on the door!

Ah Hah I had spotted the AWE emblem on the cab but had no idea it was to do with Atlas.
Thanks Robban
Very unusual boom and dipper on this machine too I would naturally assume that it was going to be used for track laying purposes, tell you next year when I travel along that railway. ;)
