tree spades

Post #1 by Localdiggers.co.uk » Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:02 am

this summer we had the pleasure of working alongside the ruskins team and two of their tree spades, one was a large spade (they are measured in inches this one was a 90") set on the rear of an 80's IH 6x6 rig, a rare machine in the UK, although relativly common in the US. they had also mounted a smaller spade, i think it was a 60", to the rear of an old 63 (?) unimog that had been roughly restored. they were basicaly taking large trees and planting them at the whim of a very wealthy customer on his grounds, we were there working a 9t terex dumper and a 14t jcb excavator (dont ask me for model numbers) a very impressive bit of kit to watch in action, i cant find the pics we took of the process but have these ones the first is the IH 90 the rest are american machines that have took my fancy (had considered buying one as a specialist machine until i saw the prices of them!!!) the yellow international really took my fancy is it is the same truck as mine.
