Product to be pumped:- Silt with no stones.
I am planning to construct a Dredger for a large pond. The raft will be constructed using wood and used 55l oil drums similar to on Youtube. The pump I have is a Hyundai DHY-T80E diesel driven 3" which can handle 20mm solids. The raft size is planned to be 1.5m x 2m approx. I would like to fit 4 ports on the suction side each selected in sequence by a flow driven rotational valve. The raft will be propelled forward by the suction force. The 4 ports will equal the width of the raft allowing it to cut through the silt at an adjustable depth. The silt will be pumped to one of three nearby islands to reduce the length of the flexible discharge pipe.
All comments will be gratefully received.

Bloody hell , sounds a good project .
If the silt is soft then it might bury the suction head into the silt and block it .
What would control the depth of dredge and rate of propulsion ?
