Thought this was probably the best place to start this thread; I came across some interesting kit yesterday amongst which were machines that are probably beyond saving so I thought I'd start a thread going for these machines of all types, the Ergo cabbed Leyland is well gone as is the Wetherill shovel.

Hi Jeremy,
I have a sad story which may fit here.
My first pic. taken in 1951 shows this already elderly 100 ton Scammell in its former glory.

This one which I took last year at Rush Green Yard shows it in a sorry state. I was told it was all there under that lot.
I think down and out is a fair discription.

The twin to this vehicle is in preservation.

Fred am I right in saying that the preserved version of the Scammell is owned by Maurice Hudson of 'Hudson's of Dudley'? I am sure that I have seen the preserved version in Hudson's livery? What a shame about the non-preserved one!

Yes Jeremy,
Hudsons 100 tonner now resides in the Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland. There were only two built circa 1929/30 two pics below.

A couple more 'down and outs' for you; the one you have seen before not too sure about the Jones KL44 crane stood next to its executioner.

What's the old bus / tower waggon Jeremy :?: Is it a Bristol :?:
You can see the old 5LW Gardner quite clearly.

Yes its Daimler powered by a Gardner five pot 5LW and it was the pre-cherry picker tower lift used to access tram and trolley bus overhead lines from what I can gather.
