Hi Craig,
Just noticed the above post. That was one of three Merc / Blaw-Knox mixers run by a friend of mine.
They were based at Hirwaun, Aberdare. They ran out of Penderyn Quaries where I also worked for a while in the early 60s when it was run by Roads-Reconstruction of Frome, Somerset.
It was taken over by Amey Roadstone later to become ARC mid to late 60s when they brought in their own mixers.

I just came on some more pics of the Merc. mixer trucks.
Here is the original truck with the Blaw-Knox mixer.

And here is the fleet with Mr and Mrs Morris, the proud owners in attendance.

Those mixers might still be working south of the Med!

Hi all first post so be gently the first post the merc's were I believe based in penderryn and worked on the a465 in the sixty, one had an accident falling into a underpass and was written off by the insurance. The truck was sold on and re bodied as a tipper and worked in the aberdare area until the company folded and was sold on, I spent a many a happy hour in the cab as a kid with my father but sadly both have passed on

Hi Jeremy thanks for the welcome, I think the merc was sold to Maldwyn Davies hirwaun and after that I lost track of the merc

I came across this post when I searched for classic pictures of mixer trucks and I was not disappointed! This is fantastic. Thank you for the trip down memory lane - This speaks worlds, especially coming from someone who is in the industry!

Nice Guy Warrior mixer truck of Willments , note the unusual sight of a detached JCB 3 backhoe in foreground , never knew they were detachable!

The detachable JCB backhoe probably belonged on the back end of a Drott B100, a friend of mine used to rum one.
